Larry McReynolds Interview

Larry joined the show and dried off long enough to talk about the Daytona 500. He said NASCAR absolutely made the right call to end the race. The track takes minimum two hours to dry and the rain didn’t even finish until like 10:30 p.m.

Tony asked if NASCAR can start the race early, and Larry said they shortened the pre-race as much as possible, but they’re at the mercy of television just like how every other sport is.

Tony mentioned a lot of fans think they know the solution to the rain problem, but he and Larry agreed there isn’t a good solution to rain stoppages, and no matter what, they can’t run at all if there’s any moisture on the track because of the racing slicks these cars use. It would be mayhem on the track if that happened.

Larry mentioned that there was still drama at the track, and the story of Matt Kenseth rising from 39th place was a great one.
